If your Cheshire office is still running on a jar of instant or a pod machine nobody quite trusts, switching to fresh-roasted coffee is a smaller change than it sounds — and one that tends to get noticed fast. Here's what to actually think about before you order.
How much coffee does an office actually need?
As a rough guide, a 250g bag makes around 20–25 cups of filter coffee. A small team of 5–10 people typically gets through a bag every week or so; a larger office of 30–50 people is usually looking at 3–5 bags a week, depending on how many people are actually drinking it versus grabbing tea. If you're switching from a pod machine, expect to use noticeably less coffee by weight for the same number of cups — pods are portioned generously to make the maths work for the machine manufacturer, not for you.
Fresh-roasted vs pods vs instant
Pod machines are convenient, but the coffee itself has usually been ground and sealed months before it reaches the machine, and the pods themselves are a genuine waste problem — most aren't recyclable through normal council collections. Instant is cheap and quick, but it's a different drink entirely, and most people can tell. Fresh-roasted whole bean or filter-ground coffee, ordered in bulk and used within a few weeks, tastes noticeably better for a similar or lower ongoing cost, with none of the pod waste.
What we'd actually recommend
For most Cheshire offices, a straightforward setup is: filter-ground coffee for a standard filter machine or cafetière run, ordered as a recurring subscription so it never runs out unannounced. Our Coffee Club handles the recurring side automatically — set the frequency once, and fresh bags keep arriving without anyone having to remember to reorder. If your order volume is unpredictable, a one-off order with no minimum works just as well; you're not locked into anything.
Because we roast from Weaverham, most Cheshire offices are within a short drive of the roastery — Northwich, Chester, Warrington, Macclesfield, Crewe and everywhere in between get free delivery, usually within 48 hours of the coffee being roasted rather than weeks after leaving a national warehouse.
A few practical questions worth asking
Decaf: we stock a naturally processed decaf alongside the main range, so nobody's left out in the afternoon. Grind: choose "Filter" at checkout for a standard filter machine, or whole bean if someone in the office has a grinder they're precious about. Minimum order: there isn't one — order a single bag to trial it, or set up a standing weekly order once you know what works.
If you want help working out exactly how much your office needs, or which grind suits your setup, get in touch via our contact page. Otherwise, browse the shop or head straight to the Coffee Club to set up a recurring order.
